The Seychelles sea turtles
Photo ID Project

Help explore and protect turtles in Seychelles! All you need is a camera!

One of the research projects they are running at the Olive Ridley Project is to use photo ID to record the population of turtles.

Photo ID is a method of using photos to identify turtles by the scales on their faces. It's a cost-effective, non-invasive, scientifically proven way to monitor and 'tag' turtles - without disturbing them . This work is extremely important to conserving some endangered species.

How you can help: Send your turtle pictures to Lara Kalisch! It's easy. You can find out exactly how to do this on the website and in this PDF .

Please always keep a minimum distance of 2 meters when observing and photographing the turtles!
Under no circumstances should the turtles be touched or fed!
Turtles, while often friendly, are still wild animals! The well-being of the animals must not be impaired!
